Chapter 1: Zephyr: Loner of the Forrest
- “No, no, Zephyr!” an old man yelled in exhaustion, “You must use your magical scepter in the right movements. See?” The old man, obviously a really good sorcerer, twirled around his huge stick-looking object.
“Yes, sir..” Zephyr sighed rolling his eyes’. He was a teenager, probably around 14 or 15 years. His long, handsome silver cape wavered in the breeze. Unlike the Elderly Sorcerer, Zephyr wore a silver bandana, while the Elderly Sorcerer wore a strange cone-shaped hat.
“Zephyr? Are you listening to me, boy?!” the Elderly Sorcerer was slightly irritated w/ the teenager.
“Huh?” Zephyr seemed to have drifted off into a dream world during his lesson.
“ZEPHYR!! You’ll be eaten alive if you don’t pay attention to your training! Demons & dragons don’t take pity upon human flesh.” Zephyr just waved off his warning like a pesky knat at your ear. The Elderly Sorcerer was really pissed now.
“You ignorant little brat! You’re too unaware of danger, my boy. That bandana cuts off the circulation leading to your head, lad.” Zephyr just grinned a half-smile & looked at the sky.
“Trainings over,” he said quietly to himself. He wasn’t much of a talker. Nothing ever to talk about. He was different. A loner. A powerful, calm, unique, lone wolf. Nobody bothered him; he didn’t bother nobody. Now, even though he was a loner that didn’t mean he was totally w/o friends. Only his friends weren’t all human. There were two main ones: Pyro & Tsunami.
Pyro was a young, clumsy dragon. An outcast to his clan because he was small in size, but probably the strongest to walk among them. They considered him an embarrassment. He also has a habit of claiming a bad attitude & wisecracking in the wrong situations.
Tsunami was a peaceful “wolf of waves.” A demoness w/ amazing waterpowers. She was more wise than a warrior. Although being able to control one of the strongest elements on Earth wasn’t so bad when in a tight spot.
There were other allies but Pyro & Tsunami were the only ones that really stayed around. Zephyr lived w/ Pyro. His parents’ were both thought to be dead. The only humans that paid him any attention were the Elderly Sorcerer, Skar & Thistle. Skar was Zephyr’s worst rival. (who he hated)
Thistle was also Zephyr’s rival but also his best friend. She wasn’t too normal either, but was accepted. She didn’t seem to care about how different Zephyr was or how strange he acted. Her heart was kind through & through. Thistle was the only one who always seemed to know where Zephyr hung out.
“Zephyr?” Thistle called, walking up the path in the Demon Forrest, “Where are you?” All of a sudden she heard a rustle in the trees. She turned around pulling an arrow out & aiming. Then she heard it behind her. She turned around the arrow still in place. There w/ the point barely touching his forehead, was Zephyr. She screamed a little & fell back, the arrow missing his head by less than an inch.
“I could’ve killed you! I would’ve never forgiven myself! Don’t you dare ever scare me like that again, Zephyr!”
Zephyr just smiled his familiar half-smile at her. That just irritated her more. “One day, you just wait, you just wait..” she threatened him.
